“I only Smoke in War Zones”

Whidbey Island Center for the Arts in Langley will present Jennifer Rawlings’ “I only Smoke in War Zones” at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 18, at 7:30 p.m.

An award winning performer, Rawlings is not your typical mother of five. She is a comedienne who has been traveling to war zones for over a decade to entertain the troops (telling them jokes, of course).

Organizers say her solo performance is a roller coaster ride of emotion from the moment the show begins, leading an extraordinary journey of laughter and tears as she weaves together unforgettable stories about family, war and humanity.

Inspired by her experiences in traveling to war zones, Rawlings wanted to give a voice to the forgotten victims of war. During the evening, she will share clips from her award-winning film “Forgotten Voices: Women In Bosnia,” a documentary that explores the lives of several women who survived the war in Bosnia. The film was made with the hope and belief that the world can be changed and made better – one story at a time.

Tickets range from $18 to $22 and are available by contacting the WICA ticket office 221-8268 or (800) 638-7631. Additional information is available at www.WICAonline.com.
