Sailors visit island veterans

Sailors from Whidbey Island Naval Air Station visited military veterans at Regency on Whidbey Retirement and Assisted Living in Oak Harbor on Sept. 3, 2014 for coffee and to exchange sea stories. On hand were Aviation Electrician’s Mate 3rd Class Michael Melquist, Air Traffic Controller 2nd Class Amber McKinnis, Electronic’s Technician 1st Class James Rarick and Culinary Specialist 1st Class Julius Tate. These members of the First Class Petty Officers’ Association wanted to give back to those who served before them and relive some of the great memories that these veterans have to share. Over 250 years of military service was represented ranging from World War II until the present.
